Setup
To begin, navigate to Checkbook. In the event that you possess an account, you may proceed to log in directly. However, if you do not have an account, kindly create one by selecting the “Don’t have an account?” option. In either scenario, Checkbook will request that you authorize Bind to make payments on your behalf. Ensure that you click on the Authorize button to proceed.
After linking your account there are a few other steps to fully integrate Checkbook with Bind.
API Keys & Webhooks
In order for Bind to display information related to your payouts, you’ll need to set up API Keys and Webhooks. This sounds technical, but it’s just a way for Checkbook to tell Bind what the status of a payout is.
API Keys can be generated here or by navigating to the Checkbook dashboard and selecing Settings » Developer. On the right side of the page click the Generate New Key button to create a new set of API Keys. Bind requires the Publishable Key, Secret Key, and Webhook Key.
Bind provides the Webhook URL to input into Checkbook. Navigate within Checkbook to Settings » Developer and paste the link into the Webhook URL field, and click Update.
It is recommended to review your settings on Checkbook and ensure that your business information is accurate, and your limits are acceptable. You can request an increase to your limits at any time. Additionally, make sure you have a signature on file as it enables you to process payouts greater than $2,000.
Consigner Payouts
When you process a payout, an email will be sent to the recipient with a digital check, which is simply an official record of the payout, with options provided for how to receive it.
When your consigner clicks on the View deposit options they’ll be presented with a screen asking whether they would like to print the check, or receive the payment via ACH. If they choose to receive the payment directly, Checkbook will collect their bank account information, send the payment, and keep them up to date without you having to do a thing.
The implementation of Webhooks has enabled you to seamlessly monitor your payouts and remain updated on the status of your consigners’ payments within Bind. Detailed information on the various payout statuses can be accessed by clicking on the following resource: Payout Statuses.
In case of a failed payment, both the store and the consigner will receive a notification from Checkbook. Most often, fails occur due to incorrect entry of account information. Consigners will have the option to provide new credit destination details. Once the new information is submitted, the payment will be attempted again.
